I think my tagline is kind of stupid and trite. I can do better.
I want more red in my blog color scheme. Turquoise with carnelian accents is the look I want.
I want to try my new incense, but I am terrified of setting off the smoke detectors in this house. They have been acting really weird since we arrived.
I suspect this house doesn't like us much, and would very much like us to go.
It feels like every time I try to make plans for the future, my life blows up. I am kind of afraid to plan anything now...why bother?
I am worried about my husband's ADD. We can't trust his short-term memory, so I feel like I have to take up the slack, which makes things more stressful for me. Which in turn makes my memory weaker.
*headdeskheaddeskheaddesk*
I'm tired.
I want a cheeseburger.
Thinking about cheeseburgers is making me feel better...what the hell? XD

More Waiting, More Boxes
We will start moving our stuff to the new apartment tomorrow. We have the key and can start moving our things in tomorrow, but we're not "officially" moving in until the 15th. I have put in a request for electric service starting on that date, but so far I have only received a form letter confirmation email. I don't even know whether I will need to pay a deposit. Of course when I tried to call them for more information on Friday, they were closed for Veterans' Day. So I will have to try again tomorrow.
I have set some empty boxes aside at my office to use for packing and moving. I was planning to pick them up today, but a headache decided it needed my attention this afternoon.
There are a few topics I would like to blog about, but right now I just don't have the headspace to deal with them. Open statues, politics and Ma'at, offerings, bellydance classes, pagan organizations, and more are fluttering around in my brain. I'm gonna need a bigger net...

...and Exhale
Our application was accepted. We move in on the 15th. Nekhtet!
Today I am working from home while listening to YouTube videos of the German medieval/folk music band Faun. Beautiful...

Last week I received my order of incense from Nippon Kodo. It's past time for offerings of thanks. I will be reviewing the different scents here soon.

Waiting and Boxes
My husband and I have turned in our application to rent a cute little apartment not far from here. It's the first floor of a duplex (is it still called that when it's top and bottom instead of side by side?) built in 1930. Victorian glass doorknobs, wood floors, radiators...so different from what I've always known, and so adorable! If you've ever seen the movie Office Space, the apartment the main character, Peter, lives in is exactly what most apartments in the Dallas metroplex are like. Bland, boring boxes built in the 1980s and 90s with no character, cheap wall-to-wall carpeting, all packed together like Lego bricks. Green metal front doors and green metal railings, all exactly alike.
It occurred to me a little while ago that Peter's apartment is exactly like his job. Bland, boring, sitting in featureless boxes, all stacked together like Lego bricks. All exactly alike. And the corporation treats its employees like that too. Cheap, interchangeable, disposable. I'm not even sure where I'm going with this thought, but the association got my attention and made me wonder if it was intentional on the part of the writers/director.

Transition
Today I have been cleaning. I washed bedding, scooped the litter box, and made a start on cleaning the room my husband and I have been using as a junk room. Until we move into our own place, I will need that room as my dance/sewing/ritual room, and it was a mess. I've got the trash picked up and almost everything sorted into piles. Fortunately, we don't really have that much stuff, so it didn't take too long.
I was supposed to attend rehearsal today, but I feel like I'm coming down with something. Bleh. Light cleaning (no scrubbing the bathroom!) and resting while surfing the internet, I can handle.
Maybe I'll start writing my bellydance class syllabus.

A Beginning
A couple of months ago, 'round about Wep Renpet, my husband and I moved with our two cats from Dallas, Texas to a cute little town outside Boston, Massachusetts. Happy New Year to us!
We've been renting basement space from friends, but the cramped conditions mean we're all under each other's feet and we have to get a place of our own. We are looking at renting a place just a few blocks away with one of my husband's coworkers as a roommate. It's a whole lot more expensive than I am comfortable with, but the extra space would give us some additional income options. I would have a good-sized room to use as a studio, so I could teach a small bellydance class, or make and sell costumes. My husband can tutor art students. We can host a life drawing group.
Now the goth in me wants to host a death drawing group...
